Three-Dimensional Endoscopy
This contribution presents a robust estimation technique for computation of camera motion and 3D reconstruction of a scene from an endoscopic image sequence. The technique offers new possibilities for more objective diagnoses and intervention planning. Every ordinary flexible monocular video endoscope can be used without modifications.
متن کاملThree-dimensional interactive virtual endoscopy
Virtual endoscopy is a new development of diagnostic imaging, covering a wide range of potential clinical applications. This paper introduced a system framework for virtual endoscopy. Our research efforts concentrated on mesh smoothing, automated centerline extraction and view-dependent level-of-detail rendering techniques. First, the fairing surface was obtained by smoothing the normal vectors...
متن کاملThree-dimensional nonlinear optical endoscopy.
The development of miniaturized nonlinear optical microscopy or endoscopy is essential to complement the current imaging modalities for diagnosis and monitoring of cancers. We report on a nonlinear optical endoscope based on a double-clad photonic crystal fiber and a two-dimensional (2-D) microelectromechanical system mirror, enabling the three-dimensional (3-D) nonlinear optical imaging throug...
متن کاملMiniature grating for spectrally-encoded endoscopy.
Spectrally-encoded endoscopy (SEE) is an ultraminiature endoscopy technology that acquires high-definition images of internal organs through a sub-mm endoscopic probe. In SEE, a grating at the tip of the imaging optics diffracts the broadband light into multiple beams, where each beam with a distinctive wavelength is illuminated on a unique transverse location of the tissue. By encoding one tra...
متن کاملThree-dimensional endoscopy in transnasal transsphenoidal approach to clival chordomas.
BACKGROUND The purpose of this prospective, observational study was to evaluate the management of skull base chordomas surgically resected via a 3D-endoscopic transnasal approach. METHODS Thirteen consecutive patients were observed and only 9 were surgically treated using a 3D-endoscopic transnasal approach assisted by a novel 3D visualization system. RESULTS Nine consecutive male patients ...
